Stop The Earth!

Yesterday, SETI observed the above radio signal from exoplanetary candidate KOI 817. The researchers at Berkeley say that these signals are exactly what would be expected if a race of beings were sending radio signals into space. They say that the narrow band frequency immediately rules out any natural phenomenon.

“These signals look similar to what we think might be produced from an extraterrestrial technology. They are narrow in frequency, much narrower than would be produced by any known astrophysical phenomena, and they drift in frequency with time, as we would expect because of the Doppler effect imposed by the relative motion of the transmitter and the receiving radio telescope,” 

Could this be the first discovery of another race? Proof of alien life in the universe? If it is nobody really is paying much attention to it. It’s incredibly exciting though, I hope people remember today if it turns out that it is a big deal.

So i was googling some stuff, mainly about human race and how i dislike being kept penned up with them all and i came across two incredibly amazing and retarded websites that predict the future of the human race.

1. Human race will split into two different species through selective breeding

The human race will one day split into two separate species, an attractive, intelligent ruling elite and an underclass of dim-witted, ugly goblin-like creatures, according to a top scientist.

100,000 years into the future, sexual selection could mean that two distinct breeds of human will have developed.

“Physical features will be driven by indicators of health, youth and fertility that men and women have evolved to look for in potential mates,” says the report, which suggests that advances in cosmetic surgery and other body modifying techniques will effectively homogenise our appearance.

Men will have symmetrical facial features, deeper voices and bigger penises, according to Curry in a report commissioned for men’s satellite TV channel Bravo.

Women will all have glossy hair, smooth hairless skin, large eyes and pert breasts, according to Curry.

Racial differences will be a thing of the past as interbreeding produces a single coffee-coloured skin tone.

Really? These evolutionary predictions are based on current trends of what we think attractive is…Oliver Curry (the “scientist” that made these claims) didn’t realise that beauty trends change constantly so glossy hair, hairless skin, large eyes and pert breasts might not be the desired mate in 10 years…think im crazy? Nope…Big women used to be considered sexy because of associated security and wealth…I don’t claim to be a qualified evolutionary scientist yet but If the trend changes again then his claim is fucked really.

Although his claim for men never seems to change, i guess symmetry, deep voices and huge wangs are desirable from the opposite sex…but it sounds more like Oliver was wishing for big things as he read The Time Machine.

I wish i could be around in 100,000 years time to see what the chuff happens to the human race as a whole.

2. Voluntary Human Extinction Movement (VHEM)

Phasing out the human race by voluntarily ceasing to breed will allow Earth’s biosphere to return to good health. Crowded conditions and resource shortages will improve as we become less dense.

Did these people not think about what would happen to all the plastic that the human race has made that will just sit around for a hell of a long time if there are no humans to speed up its decomposition? Who will look after all the domesticated animals? I guess we make it so they can’t look after themselves and then leave them to die?

They work on the idea that the human race is not worth the hassle and the damage that the earth is feeling so people should voluntarily stop breeding, that way the earth can return to its natural state. My rebuttal;

a) Human evolution was and is natural and so was/is our intellectual development…the earth is in its natural state.

b) The strongest physical and psychological drive is to reproduce…not doing so would be unnatural.

c) what happens to all the nuclear power plants, missiles and chemical weapons if there are no humans to keep them in check? Core breach maybe? Then what state would the earth be in…its natural one? Doubt it mate.

But what if you are a genius? shouldn’t you pass your genes on? Well they have answered that one!

Q: I’m extra smart. Shouldn’t I pass on my genes?

Well, could you pass a minimal intelligence test if one were required for a “license to breed“?
