Hey, I'm Daniel. I study a MSc in Neuroscience at Uni. Leeds. I write an E-Zine called @NeuroSupremacy. It's all about the brain. Obvs.

I think you should read my interview with the lostprophets, or my interview with Zebrahead or maybe my report on Andrew Fenlon...or even his response to my report. I met Jedward once too, they suck. Read the interview with my childhood hero Danny Smith! I also just interviewed Chris Ramsey, a cool comedian. Oh and OK GO! sexy band. I just reviewed day 1 and day 2 of Infest 2010. I covered Bingley Music Live where I interviewed The Blackout and Dan Le Sac & Scroobius Pip. I just interviewed Less Than Jake.

Aiden, Francesqa & The Dead Formats

These three golden grahams were all playing in Leeds on Tuesday night and just like the cereal, I liked what I heard (don’t ask what I was doing with the cereal). I arranged this one on my own and wasn’t lucky enough to get any interviews set up before hand, but would I let that stop me? Lord no. Again, like the cereal, if someone said to me, you can hold this box but you can’t open it, the result would be spit, bruised elbows and an open box. But I digress.

I won’t lie, the first band caught my eye only because there were two striped t-shirts right next to each other. However, despite the on stage faux pas the band were incredible. Incredibly good at captivating the audience but what’s even better, they were incredibly approachable. I didn’t raise the stripey-double-vision thing with them, why you ask? Well, what’s punk about that? Haha. I approached the guys after their set and sorted a quick interview out. I hadn’t really prepared anything (and without lying, was mildly drunk) but the answers I got made me know these fellas are psyched to be with Aiden, psyched to be together as a group and more importantly are so passionate about music. What band is this I speak to highly of? The Dead Formats.

Main Influences?

Old bands, don’t really listen to new bands. We’ve all got our own sound but we meet in the middle, The Clash. The Clash is where we all agree.

Why Music?

Francis Waller replies “the only way out of shit really, the best thing in the world, the only thing that means anything to me – it’s life”

It was at this point William Control enters and I stop asking questions, but keep recording. The only things I will let you guys hear from the mouth of William Control is “You guys made it” “Dildo’s – fucking dildos” and “Hey man, I’m from Seattle”.

The Dead Formats mini album is available now, and they’re hoping to get a full album out sometime soon.

I ran back downstairs to enter into the middle of the Francesqa set, these guys were hella cool. They had a really good look, a great sound and seemed to command the stage. I didn’t run into the band but I did manage to hijack a small amount of Ashley Wilkie’s time.

Then of course It was time for Aiden to hit the stage, they did so (as previously predicted ha ha). This was the best 60 minutes of guitar yielding goth punk I’ve heard in a while. To be fair, it’s probably the only hour of goth punk I’ve had the pleasure of listening to, but it was still pretty damn good. Nick kept spewing his love for the crowd, all over the crowd (via spit) but I’m sure they all loved it.

I’m not the biggest punk fan in all honesty, but these three bands definitely made me into a fan. They each in their own way owned the stage with confidence and style. I did speak to someone from each of them and they all seemed pretty cool, including Angel from Aiden who I promised I would tweet this to, so here’s to you buddy!

Interview with the other big wolf! Danny Smith!

Ever since Danny Smith was involved in Big Wolf on Campus, one of my favourite children’s shows, I have been involved in following his career. Big Wolf was a great success, which sadly ended…He got a band called The City Drive together and there sound was pretty amazing. He just started his solo music career, with some electro-rock-pop beats which you can check out on his myspace. He gracefully answered some of my questions!

1) So you have had an entertainment career that some would kill for, you played Merton J Dingle in what remains my favourite childhood show and you had a successful band with a great sound. I hear now you are going back to your roots and are pursuing your acting and solo career? If this is true, what made you want to leave the band and do this?

»>everything i cared about in la crashed down on me at one time. i had to leave the city and start anew in my hometown, Toronto. the rebuilding process has been going okay. i’m acting a bit and recording music just for fun.

2) Merton J Dingle, a role I hope you seriously loved was a big nerd, a huge supernatural loving nerd and he captured the hearts of many! He was a character who was always living up to Tommy and in some respects of the phrase always came “second”, he was a “nerd” who didn’t really fit in. Do you think this character reflects you in anyway? Where did you draw your motivation for this character?

»>playing the nerd is my bread & butter haha. bwoc was a dream job, where i got to release all of my goofiness and put it on screen every week. i hadn’t watched a frame of the show in 8 years and just found it on tv recently. i watched three episodes. it’s hilarious and i love seeing the ol’ gang together.

3) Your music has a great sound, a sort of pop-rock-fun-punk sound that hit the internet hard, do you ever feel like there will be a reunion of the band?

»>i’d be interested in reuniting but my sound has changed drastically. my songs are still (hopefully) catchy but it’s all electropop now. plus, i live on the other side of the continent, so i don’t see a reunion happening anytime soon. i do still love those guys.

4) I know that when you were in The City Drive, a whole host of English fans asked you for hope that you would one day tour the UK, what are your thoughts on this?

»> still hoping…

5) Your style is clean cut punk cool and I love it, do you consciously make decisions about what to wear or do you think it comes naturally?

»> i take all of my sartorial cues from williamsburg kids. kidding.

6) On a quick side note, you are a Canadian dude…How do you feel about TV shows such as South park which frequently make Canada into a joke?

»>i love it! all canadians do. we have the best sense of humor. ever notice how the biggest comedic box office stars are all canucks? jim carrey, mike myers, seth rogen…

7) What are your upcoming plans? Can you give us an exclusive on anything you plan on doing next or have in the works?

»>there’s a huge acting job i am hoping to book. hopefully i can give you some good news very soon. if nothing happens by the end of this summer, i’ll give up the biz and get a “real” job. otherwise, i’m just making music and paintings and trying to figure out my life.

other questions!

1) Are you on team Werewolf or team Vampire?

»>i’m team kristen stewart.

2) How do you define Time, in one sentence if you can.

»>time is the disease we will all die from and i wish we could stop it.

3) Define yourself in one word.

»>generally: fun. these days: stressed.

4) Boxers or Briefs

»>boxerbriefs.

5) Are you in a relationship?

»>as facebook would say, “it’s complicated.”

6) A red head, A blonde and a Brunette….Who do you kiss, sleep with and marry?

»>brunettes across the board.

The Betrayed Is Sickkkkkk.

The Band, excluding Luke Johnson…The new drummer.

The new album was released a while ago now, and i just wanted to share my thoughts on it. Well, it’s pretty epic. The Lost Prophets sure have done a good job at writing and performing all of these amazing new songs. ‘It’s Not The End Of The World But I Can See It From Here’ has a sexy video, the band are all dressed incredibly well with monochrome colours making them look very rock and roll, low cut white tops and high button t’s sure did make them look rock-formal. Ian Watkins has hair like an amazing microphone wielding Anime character.

You can buy the electronic version of the album here and the CD here and you really should.

The Lost Prophets are on tour right now, playing in Leeds on Sunday…I’ll be there, will you?

If you could ask them any question, what would it be?

Victoria Beckham lands role on US chat show The View

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8489091.stm

Victoria Beckham will be co-hosting the US chat show ‘The View’ next month and is said to be excited…But who wouldn’t be excited to still be on TV and married to one of the best footballers, models and providers even after all that affair shit.

Unfortunately David doesn’t know that she will be doing this gig because his midbrain is pretty much non-existant and well, even if it was intact he wouldn’t have the neural or cognitive capacity to string a sentence together.

Only Kidding!
